In 1930, philanthropist and entrepreneur, Edward Harkness created an educational philosophy. "What I have in mind is a classroom where students could sit around a table with a teacher who would talk with them and instruct them by a sort of tutorial or conference method, where each student would feel encouraged to speak up. This would be a real revolution in methods."
Used in may top American schools, this method promotes critical thinking and discussion skills. The One School is the pioneer of this method. We believe that students are unique and co-facilitator in creating explosive, positive growth.
Paper and pencil tests are not the only measure of success. At The One School, we focus on building confidence, character, leadership and effective communication skills. We do so by integrating the lessons learned in the classroom into real world situations. At the end of every trimester, all students have the opportunity to present their business ideas to a panel of teachers and successful entrepreneurs in order to guide them to their goals
We believe that some of the most important lessons are learned through one-on-one instruction outside of the confines of the classroom. Every student is assigned a business and a personal mentor to guide them in starting an enterprise or improving one's life.
Self-knowledge is the key to successful entrepreneurship. Personal Coaches with their wealth of experience motivate and guide our students to discover what they want their lives to mean. They are encouraged to dream because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.
