The One Philippines Enterprise Challenge

Description of TOPEC: The One Philippines Entrepreneurial Challenge is a business plan competition for Filipino high school and college students ages 19 and under. The students compete in teams of 8 or less, with a mentor. A challenge and the judging criteria will be issued by the judging panel at 1PM on January 26th. The teams will have 24 hours during which they must produce a 2 page mini-business plan, a prototype of the solution, and a 3 minute presentation presented using a maximum of 4 PowerPoint slides. At the end of the 24-hour period the judges will view the presentations and announce a winner of the competition. The winning team, along with other selected teams, will then compete against thousands of other students from hundreds of schools from around the world in the Global Enterprise Challenge which takes place in June of 2008.
Assembling a team for TOPEC:
1. The team should have a maximum of 8 students.
2. Students must currently be attending high school or college.
3. Students must be 19 years or younger by June of 2008.
4. Ideally the team should possess a broad range of skills and knowledge.
5. Each team will be allowed one mentor to guide the progress of the group.
Rules of TOPEC:
1. The challenge will be issued at 1PM on January 26, 2008 by a selected judge.
2. The teams will have 24-hours to create a 2-page mini-business plan, a prototype of the solution and a 4-page PowerPoint presentation by the set deadline.
3. The 3-minute presentation will be delivered in a preset order or via the internet by a set deadline.
4. All presentations must be delivered in English.
5. The mini-business plan may be pre-written by hand and later typed at one of the The One School’s computers if the team does not have a notebook computer. Each team is strongly encouraged to supply its own notebook computer. The use of the internet is strongly encouraged. If a team does not have a computer, they may use a computer from The One School however one may not always be available. In the case of a lack of computers, each team may only be allowed to use a shared computer for 1-hour at a time. Wifi internet access will be provided by The One School. Should a notebook computer not be available to the team The One School may provide one to the team at a minimal fee if they are informed of this need at least one month before the competition.
6. There are no rules regarding how a team responds to the challenge.
7. Each team may only work on their designated areas. Anyone found wandering shall be given a warning. Students may opt to stay at the tournament venue or go elsewhere during the duration of the 24-hours. In the event that a team is caught cheating in any way shape or form that team will be disqualified from the competition. Any evidence of plagiarism will also result in disqualification of the team.
